Pew Pew for new lasers?

So the European Commission gave the go ahead to build 3 massive new research lasers (and maybe a 4th) that has the potential to be several times more powerful that all the power our civilization has EVER created, the region of 200 petawatts... that would be 200 x10^15 watts or 200 000 000 000 000 000 watts.

This sort of power would be capable of tearing the very fabric of space.... what could possibly go wrong?
